"Pasquali"
By Ken McKay
Pasquali is
a cornerless Double bass. This design began in Italy in early violin/viol
making history. I built him for solo and orchestra playing in
mind but has a nice jazz voice also.
He
is fully antiqued, not to fool
anyone but to make him look well used and warm. The wood is distressed
only a little, I find it difficult to put dents and dings in the wood
that I was so careful to make look smooth. I used a formula of old
world varnish components to finish the bass in a "venician red" color
over a golden yellow ground.
UPDATE NOVEMBER 2009
THIS BASS HAS HAD RECIEVED BROWN TONER COATES OF VARNISH TO ADD ADDITIONAL DEPTH.
